Serious Three-Vehicle Crash Near South Lake Tahoe

On Friday, August 6, 2021, two people suffered serious injuries during a car crash near South Lake Tahoe. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials reported that the accident involved three vehicles and happened a few miles south of the city. The injured individuals were identified as a 56-year-old Placerville man and a woman from Wellington, Nevada. Updates on their injuries haven’t been reported and CHP continues to investigate the collision.

Crash Information

The crash happened at around 6:15 a.m. on Highway 89 in the Hope Valley area just south of the small community of Myers. According to police, the Placerville man was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram southbound on 89 when, for reasons that are not currently understood, his vehicle drifted left and eventually entered into oncoming lanes. After driving over the median, the Ram sideswiped a gray Toyota Tundra.

After the initial collision, the Ram continued further down the northbound side of the highway, eventually striking a 2006 Chevy 2500 head-on. Both the Ram and the Chevy were seriously damaged during the forceful crash.

Response

Police were dispatched out to the scene immediately after CHP was alerted to the accident. Once on-site, responders found that the Ram and Chevy drivers, the Placerville man and the Nevada woman, respectively, had sustained serious trauma. Both individuals were rushed via ambulance to the Barton Memorial Hospital to receive emergency care. The Toyota driver reportedly did not suffer any injuries.

Investigation

While CHP has not confirmed any suspected collision factors, officers have indicated that they don’t suspect driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs to have played a role in causing the accident.

Frequently, auto accidents occur because of one or more things that none of the drivers involved can control. This can include operating a vehicle with a defective brake or steering system, driving on a roadway with dangerously damaged pavement, and more.

Recovering from Accident Injuries

Recovering from accident injuries can be extremely challenging. Not only is recovering painful as well as mentally stressful, but it can also be highly expensive. Many car crash survivors undergo multiple surgeries and need to complete extensive physical therapy in order to fully return to health. Sadly, affording these treatments can be hard, especially if your injury means that you have to take time off work or quit working entirely.

Because these situations are so serious, it’s critical that car accident survivors get in touch with someone who can help. A skilled personal injury attorney can make sure that at-fault parties are held financially responsible for the damages they caused. In many cases, survivors recover the full amount of compensation that they need to cover medical bills, lost income, and other losses.
