State Route 99 Motorcycle Crash Results in Major Injury

A major injury was reported in Sacramento on May 11 following a motorcycle crash with another vehicle. The collision happened on northbound State Route 99, just south of the Broadway off-ramp, at about 5:18 in the afternoon. The accident blocked the number four lane, according to the incident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the female rider of the motorcycle was encountered down on the right-hand side.

Accident Being Investigated to Determine How It Occurred

As a tow truck was called to remove the motorcycle, the rider was transported by paramedics with the Sacramento Fire Department to a nearby hospital with what was called a major injury. Police investigators are working to determine what caused the collision.

Recovering Compensation Following a Motorcycle Accident

Medical costs are really high these days, and it doesn’t take long before someone who has suffered a major injury feels overwhelmed by the bills. Add into this lost wages because of the inability to work and your pain and suffering, and it quickly becomes a considerable loss. Our injury attorneys at AutoAccident.com specialize in all types of traffic collisions, including motorcycle accidents, and can help you get the compensation you deserve.

How Motorcycle Accidents Happen

Negligence is the usual cause of a motorcycle accident, and many of these major injury crashes are due to another motorist. Some of the ways they occur include:

  • A motorist turns left in front of a motorcycle rider.
  • The motorcyclist is lane splitting, and a passenger vehicle moves into their space because the driver didn’t check to see if it was clear.
  • Rear-end crashes to a motorcycle can cause the rider to be ejected, which can lead to a major injury.
  • Dooring accidents happen when someone in a parked vehicle opens their car door without checking for an oncoming motorcyclist, pedestrian, or bicycle rider.
  • Defects in the motorcycle, such as the tires or brakes, can lead to a major injury accident. Damages can be recovered by filing a product liability claim against the manufacturer in these cases.
  • Bad road conditions occur when the government entity in charge of their maintenance is negligent. Road problems may range from poor lighting and potholes to overgrown shrubbery that obscures signs and faded paint on driving lanes.

Using Insurance to Recover Compensation for Your Accident Injuries

All drivers in California are given the opportunity to purchase uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage when they first sign up for auto insurance. Many do because of the high number of drivers in the state who either carry no auto insurance or are underinsured. Your lawyer can represent you in obtaining fair compensation by using this policy.

When the injured party does not have this add-on policy, but another household member does, their insurance can be used to pay for the injuries. Using the policy does not affect future insurance rates.
