Single-Vehicle Crash Causes Injuries on Elverta Road

A major injury accident occurred in Elverta when a vehicle crashed into a light pole on February 16. The accident happened along westbound Elverta Road at El Rio Avenue around 12:41 pm. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) accident report stated that the Toyota Corolla ended up around 30 feet off the roadway.

One Person Transported to Hospital Following Major Injury Accident

Medics with the Sacramento Fire Department as well as the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) were called to the scene. The driver of the Toyota was determined to have suffered a major injury in the accident and was transported to a hospital. The SMUD crew called to the scene was there to examine and possibly perform repairs on the light pole. The CHP is investigating the collision to determine why it happened.

Causes of a Major Injury Accident

Many single-vehicle accidents are the result of driver error. Nonetheless, it is possible for a single-vehicle accident to happen in other ways where an injured driver can collect compensation for their medical expenses, lost time at their job, and their pain and suffering.

Auto Product Defects

The manufacturer, along with others on the production line, may be held liable for injuries that occur due to a defective part in an accident involving just one vehicle. A defective part can be bad brakes, a steering wheel that suddenly stops working, a stuck accelerator and more. It is recommended that people who are involved in an accident retain their vehicles afterward rather than having them destroyed. Engineers can then inspect the car for any defects. An auto product liability lawsuit may be filed if a defective part is found to have caused the accident.

Poor Roadway Maintenance

The government may be responsible for damages if poor road maintenance results in a single-vehicle accident. There is a range of conditions that can cause a solo-vehicle injury accident. These include broken traffic lights, poor lighting at night, road debris and others. A claim against a government entity, however, has a shorter statute of limitations than other types of personal injury claims. An injured party has six months to file a claim against the government entity. The entity, in turn, has 45 days to respond. If they deny the claim, you have six months to file. If the government simply doesn’t respond, the injured party then has two years to sue. Getting the help of a lawyer might be beneficial so that paperwork is filed on time and completed correctly. Furthermore, the injury lawyer can mediate the case to ensure that you receive fair compensation.

Aggressive or Hit-and-Run Drivers

Aggressive or hit-and-runs or drivers may cause accidents involving only one vehicle. Aggressive drivers are motivated by anger issues, making them a danger on the road. In some cases, a driver gets into a verbal argument with another motorist, which can involve weaving in and out of traffic or tailgating. A driver with road rage or who is aggressive may force another car off the road, leading to a single-vehicle accident. There are various reasons why hit-and-run drivers flee the scene of a collision. Some people drive without insurance or with expired licenses. There are others who might panic.

A lawyer who specializes in personal injury cases can investigate a major injury accident to determine whether another driver caused it or a mechanical defect or poor road maintenance was the reason. When it has been determined, the at-fault party can be held responsible.
