What Types of Losses are Recoverable in a Bodily Injury Claim for a Motorcycle Collision?

If you were injured in an accident as a motorcyclist and another party is to blame for the incident, you may be entitled to financial compensation for your losses. A skilled Sonora motorcycle accident attorney can advise you on the economic and non-economic damages you can recover and seek the financial recovery you need and deserve. The types of losses you may claim include:

  • Medical Expenses: This covers past and future expenses for medical treatment associated with the motorcycle crash. It may also cover at-home care depending on the severity of accident-related injuries.
  • Lost Wages: Injuries from a motorcycle collision can be severe. Therefore, an injured biker may require time off work for recovery. Wages that are lost during recovery and to attend medical appointments for motorcycle injuries may be recoverable.
  • Lost Future Earning Capacity: Severe, lasting injuries from a motorcycle accident may impact a biker’s ability to earn income. This type of economic damage may include loss of future earning potential based on the injured party’s age, occupation, education, and other factors.
  • Pain and Suffering: This may cover any mental anguish or physical pain a biker has endured due to the incident and the resulting injuries.

Because of the severity and lasting effects of a vehicle vs. motorcycle collision, drivers and bikers must pay attention to their surroundings and follow the rules of the road. When a motor vehicle driver fails to do so and causes a crash, an injured motorcyclist may seek financial recovery for their losses. Working with an experienced accident attorney is crucial.
