Drivers Trapped in Vehicles in Antelope Intersection Accident

A two-vehicle accident in Antelope resulted in a major injury on March 5 in the afternoon hours. The accident happened around 3:32 in the afternoon at the intersection of North Loop Boulevard and Falcon View Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) traffic report. One of the vehicles, a Honda, crashed into a pole as a result of the collision. Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles by responders with the Sacramento Fire Department. Both of the vehicles were towed from the accident scene. It was not reported whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.

Driver Error in a Two-Vehicle Accident

Driver error causes about 95 percent of all traffic collisions. In order to claim compensation for their injuries, it has to be shown what the at-fault party did that caused the accident. Some of the driver errors that contribute to accidents include:

  • Running a red light or stop sign: This is a common way in which a two-vehicle accident occurs, especially at intersections.
  • Making an illegal or risky turn: Those who make illegal turns at intersections are prone to be involved in a vehicular crash.
  • Distracted drivers: Texting or playing with the radio can result in a major injury.
  • Drunk drivers: Driving while intoxicated is a common cause of roadway accidents.

Intersection Accidents With Major Injury

There are 2.5 million intersection accidents annually, according to the Federal Highway Administration. Intersections are one of the most dangerous areas for drivers, with over 50 percent of all serious accidents occurring there as well as 20 percent of all fatal collisions. Each year, approximately 165,000 intersection crashes are due to drivers running a red light. Some of the causes of intersection accidents are:

  • Speeding: Driving fast through an intersection sets the stage for a major injury accident. Speeding makes it difficult for a driver to control his or her vehicle and react quickly when another motorist, bicyclist, or pedestrian appears.
  • Fatigued driving: Intersections are busy places, and reacting appropriately is necessary to ensure safety. A tired driver is not likely to react in time to avoid an accident.
  • Poor intersection design: For traffic to flow safely through an intersection, it is critical that motorists are able to see clearly from all lanes, which need to be clearly marked. When the design of the intersection is poor, the government agency in charge of building it or the contractor can be held liable for accidents. Lawsuits against the city or state have different rules, and failing to adhere to the deadlines can end in an accident case not being heard. Your personal injury lawyer will make sure that all documents are filed appropriately.

How an Injury Lawyer Can Help

At our firm, we dispatch our investigators to the scene of the accident to collect evidence of liability by the at-fault driver. They use accident reconstruction techniques and obtain videos from traffic lights and nearby businesses. Our investigators also review police reports since they are widely used by insurance companies and during legal proceedings. Once all evidence is acquired, it is released to our legal team, who use it to build a solid case for our client.
