Major Injury Car Accident on Highway 299 Near Eureka

On Thursday, July 23, 2020, one person suffered injuries during a car accident on Highway 299 just outside of Eureka. The collision happened in the morning and, according to information from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), involved one vehicle. The injured individual reportedly suffered major trauma and was hospitalized following the incident.

Crash Details

The accident occurred before 9:40 a.m. on Highway 299 near mile marker 33 and was reported to CHP by phone. So far, police have not reported many details about the incident or events leading up to it but noted that only one individual had been in the car at the time of the crash and that the vehicle overturned as a result of the collision.

Multiple response agencies were dispatched to the accident scene. When officials reached the site, they found that the vehicle driver was stuck inside the overturned vehicle. According to CHP, the driver was extricated from the wreck using heavy machinery. After extrication, medical responders determined that the driver had sustained major injuries and had them driven to a local hospital for emergency care.

Investigation

The area of the accident was partially closed to traffic while officers from CHP responded to and investigated the accident. After conducting preliminary investigations, officers have still not reported any likely collision factors. Cases like this one frequently involve non-driver accident factors like auto product malfunctions and dangerous roads.

Rollovers and Liability

When a vehicle overturns, it’s likely to put a lot of weight on its roof. Often, this will cause the roof to crumple and intrude into the cabin of the car. This is highly dangerous and can leave people with very serious injuries. With accidents that involve roof crush injuries, the vehicle manufacturer is often considered an at-fault party and is liable to pay for damages suffered as a result of the faulty roof.

However, these companies typically put up a fight against injury claims, so it is important to have help from an expert attorney while seeking accident compensation. It’s also vital to make sure that you keep the wrecked vehicle so that your lawyer is able to determine whether or not the manufacturer may be liable.

Recoverable Damages

Accident injuries affect peoples’ lives in a number of ways. Firstly, being injured is painful and the recovery process can take a long time. Many crash survivors don’t fully recover for months or even years after their accident occurred and require extensive medical care to regain their health.

Critically, this medical care is often very expensive, and people may worry about how they can afford the treatment that they need. Affording proper medical care can be difficult or even impossible, especially if your injury affected your income.

Thankfully, it’s possible to pursue all of these damages and more through personal injury claims. While every case is different, people who file injury claims are often able to get the funds they need to pay for medical expenses and move on with their lives in confidence.
