What You Should Know About Serious Car Accidents and Personal Injury Claims

A car accident has the potential to result in catastrophic injuries with long-term or even permanent effects for all involved parties. Such injuries may impact the injured person’s ability to be active, participate in daily routines, and even work. Some of the most common types of serious injuries resulting from traffic collisions may include burns, internal trauma, quadriplegia, paraplegia, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).

A serious injury often has devastating and life-changing effects. This may include temporary or permanent disability, loss of future earning potential, inability to return to the same course of employment, loss of consortium, pain and suffering, disfigurement, scarring, and more. Future extensive treatment is often necessary for such injuries and may include surgery, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and other types of long-term medical care. When such injuries result from a car accident caused by another driver, an attorney can work on the injured party’s behalf to seek fair compensation for damages incurred.

After a serious motor vehicle collision, the insurance company representing the at-fault party may reach out to extend a settlement offer. The unfortunate reality is that initial settlement offers are often not enough to cover past and future losses if a catastrophic injury is involved. Therefore, it is essential to review the facts and circumstances of your case with an injury lawyer before speaking to the insurance company representing the at-fault party.
