One Injured Person Transported to Hospital With Moderate Injuries

Responders with the Butte County Fire Department reported the injuries and transported the injured party to a hospital. A tow truck was called to remove that vehicle. The CHP traffic accident investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

Oroville Head-On Crashes and Their Causes

In a head-on collision, two vehicles collide in a frontal crash while traveling in opposite directions. In addition, the speeds of both vehicles combine in the impact, which can have devastating consequences. This type of collision can occur for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Disobeying the traffic laws: Disobeying traffic laws, such as passing on a double-yellow line or on a hill, can cause a collision head-on.
  • Fatigue: A major crash is more likely to occur when a driver is fatigued, as it reduces reaction time and impairs judgment.
  • Reckless driving: People who drive recklessly, such as by speeding, texting or tailgating, can cause a serious crash.
  • Weather conditions: Cars can slide into the opposing lane when bad weather is present, such as heavy rain, snow, fog, or ice.
  • Animals and objects: Animals on the road or other objects can cause drivers to swerve out of their lane and be involved in a head-on collision.
  • Auto defects: A serious crash can be caused by mechanical failure, such as with the brakes or steering system. If a defect in the vehicle causes a head-on collision, the injured party may be able to file an auto product liability lawsuit. This is why getting rid of the car before it is inspected is so important.
  • Roadway negligence: The presence of potholes, narrow shoulders, lack of signs and upheavals in the pavement can contribute to this type of accident. An accident lawyer might be able to assist in filing a claim against the government agency responsible for maintaining the road. There are only six months for you to do so, so it’s important not to wait too long.
