Authorities Conducting Investigation Into Injury Accident Where the Driver Fled the Scene

In addition to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived. The Nissan SUV the woman was driving sustained moderate rear-end damage. Information was not provided on the extent of injuries to the driver. The CHP traffic collision unit is determining the accident’s cause.

Finding the Negligent Party When the Driver Fled the Scene

When a driver flees the scene of an accident, you need help to locate them and hold them responsible for their actions. This is especially important if you suffered severe injuries and were hospitalized and lost pay because you could not work. Our law firm has the resources and experience to locate hit-and-run drivers in many cases. Some of the ways we find them include the following techniques:

  • Searching the accident scene for evidence such as dropped metal pieces and paint, which can be matched to the vehicle’s make and model
  • Reviewing the police report for mistakes because errors can affect the client’s ability to place a claim
  • Conducting accident reconstruction to determine the positioning of the vehicles before, during, and after the collision
  • Interviewing witnesses for corroborating statements and possible cell phone footage

Our injury lawyers take the evidence gathered to build a case against the at-fault driver and negotiate with their insurance company to reach a fair settlement. However, a hit-and-run driver can’t always be located. We can help you use your insurance policy to recover damages in these cases.

Auto Insurance to Recover Injury Compensation

Suppose you elect to take the add-on auto insurance coverage for uninsured and underinsured drivers. In that case, you can use that policy to recover compensation, which can help with your medical bills. Many drivers in the state take that insurance because of the number of drivers without insurance or who don’t have sufficient coverage. If the injured person does not hold this policy but a close family member does, theirs can be used instead. The policy rates in the future remain unaffected.
