Single-Vehicle Collisions and Compensation Recovery
Not all single-vehicle collisions are caused by another motorist who was negligent. In many cases, other reasons an accident occurred can be the reason, such as the following:
- Poor roadway maintenance or design: A badly maintained roadway, with soft shoulders, potholes, cracks in the pavement, bad design, or poor signage, can cause a Kelseyville injury crash. The government agency responsible for the upkeep of the road can be liable in these cases. However, there is only a six-month window in which to file such a claim. Enlisting the help of an accident lawyer can help.
- Defective auto parts: When brakes suddenly fail, an accelerator sticks, or other problems occur leading to an accident, it can mean a defect was the cause. This is one of the reasons it is important to retain the vehicle following a Kelseyville injury crash, so that it can be examined by professionals. If a defect is found to have caused your collision, an injury lawyer can help you file an auto product liability claim against the parts’ maker, manufacturer and others to recover the compensation you deserve.
- Animals in the roadway: At times, livestock gets loose and a driver may be involved in an accident because of a cow or other domestic animal. In these cases, the individual who owns the animal may be liable.
