Interstate 5 Crash Near Red Bluff

I’m Ed Smith, a Red Bluff car accident lawyer. Nobody leaves their house planning to get into a car accident; however, it is always better to be prepared for an accident if it does happen. Unfortunately, a serious auto accident occurred near Red Bluff off of Interstate 5 and resulted in a fatality. This tragic crash happened on Friday, May 5, 2017.

An Elderly Man from Red Bluff was Lost

Early Friday morning around 1:30 AM, a 65-year old man was traveling along Interstate 5 in Lakeland near the Dog Creek access ramp. Unfortunately, his car left the roadway and wound up colliding with a tree. It is important for people to take extreme caution while driving at night, even while using headlights or high beams, because many obstacles can sneak up on drivers and passengers. Furthermore, many animals like to come out at night because of the reduced human activity. They may slide beneath the line of sight of the headlights or high beams and cause serious traumatic injuries to drivers and their passengers.

Redding California Highway Patrol Responds

After the accident was reported, the highway patrol from Redding sent a single vehicle to the scene of the accident just off of the southbound Interstate 5 in Lakehead. At the scene, the officers found a 2016 Chrysler 200S with the 65-year old gentleman. The man was still in the vehicle. Paramedics from American Medical Response also arrived at the scene; however, the man was pronounced dead at the location of the accident.

We extend our condolences to the loved ones and friends of the man who passed away.

Interstate 5 Crash Near Red Bluff is Under Investigation

At that hour of night, it is not unusual to have accidents caused by drunk driving or other influential substances. The police report indicated no suspicion of alcohol or drug use in this accident; however, it is important for people to remember that serious accidents can be caused by drug or alcohol use and can lead to accidents causing chest trauma, abdominal trauma, or even a wrongful death. People should take care to never get in the car or behind the wheel if alcohol or drugs have been involved.

A Common Place for Accidents

Unfortunately, this busy section of Interstate 5 is a common place for car accidents to arise. Around this same time last year, a fiery crash that resulted in flames blocked the northbound section of Interstate 5 in Red Bluff. It was reported that a truck accident resulted when a tractor-trailer struck a parked vehicle from behind. The accident also shut down one of the lanes of Interstate 5 south. In this accident, five people were injured and had to be sent to the hospital. The SUV was completely destroyed after it caught fire but, fortunately, everyone escaped from the scene of the accident before the flames erupted. It was reported that the big rig was carrying electronic equipment.

Extra Care is Needed on Interstate 5

Because of the number of car accidents occurring in this section of the interstate in Red Bluff, it is important for people to make sure that they use extra caution while navigating this busy road. Everyone should make sure that they leave appropriate distance between the front of their car and the rear of the car in front of them. This will cut down on accidents from behind.
