Accident Near H-Street Off-Ramp Injures at Least One Person

A multiple-vehicle crash in South Sacramento on July 13 resulted in at least one injury. The collision occurred along northbound S.R. 51 at the H Street off-ramp around 3:30 p.m. The report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the crash involved a Toyota, Nissan van, Jeep, and Range Rover, which blocked traffic in the number one and two lanes.

Multiple-Vehicle Crash Being Investigated to Determine Fault

Rescue personnel with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived to assess the injuries. At least one person was transported to a hospital for additional treatment and evaluation. An investigation is underway by the CHP to determine why the collision occurred.

What Causes a Multiple-Vehicle Crash?

Driving negligently or making an error behind the wheel can easily cause an accident involving multiple vehicles. Among the many types of negligence are:

  • Distracted driving is a contributing factor to multiple-vehicle crashes when people talk on cell phones, text or change the radio station while driving.
  • If you don’t allow another driver to merge, especially when lanes are narrowing down, you may cause an accident involving multiple vehicles.
  • The inability to slow down quickly enough can cause accidents when drivers speed.
  • The most common cause of multiple-vehicle accidents is drunk driving. As a result of impaired judgment and slow reflexes, drunk drivers are a danger to others sharing the road.
  • Driver fatigue has been compared to drunk driving because of its similar effects on the person behind the wheel.
  • Driving recklessly involves cutting across lanes, tailgating and performing other maneuvers that endanger other motorists. Many multiple-vehicle accidents occur as a result of such behavior.

Turning to a Car Accident Attorney After a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

Multiple-vehicle crashes are often caused by more than one driver, so it is important to determine who is at fault. This will allow all injured parties to recover compensation for their injuries. An inebriated driver may have been driving while texting, while another might have been speeding. If multiple parties are determined to have been negligent, fair compensation can be recovered by holding them accountable. This is called the principle of comparative fault

Comparative fault gives everyone in the traffic crash a chance to recover damages. However, this is a complex situation, and an experienced injury lawyer is required to sort it all out.

How Is a Multiple-Vehicle Crash Investigated in Sacramento and the Remainder of Northern California?

At AutoAccident.com, investigators are sent to accident scenes as soon as possible to accumulate the evidence needed to prove our client’s claim. Investigated areas include:

  • An investigative team surveys the scene noting the vehicle placement before, during, and after the multiple-vehicle crash by using accident reconstruction techniques
  • During an interview process, witnesses are questioned.
  • To check for errors, investigators also review the police report.
  • Any videos that were captured on surveillance and nearby home and business cameras during the accident are obtained.

A solid case for our clients is then built out by our legal team after the evidence has been gathered.
