Falling Tree Accident on Bobcat Lane Causes Severe Trauma to Young Child

An infant suffered critical injuries in a falling tree accident into a home in Boulder Creek on February 21. The child, according to Mark Bingham, the chief of the Boulder Creek Fire District, is breathing and conscious but listed in critical condition. The accident happened along Bobcat Lane near Highway 236. Firefighters arrived at the scene to discover a tree had fallen in the living room of the residence, pinning the child.

Fire Crews Join Forces to Remove Tree and Free Child

Crews with the Boulder Creek Fire Department and Cal Fire joined forces to cut the tree out and free the child. Four others were in the home when the accident happened and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Family in Need of Assistance After Falling Tree Accident

The injured child was transported from a Santa Cruz hospital to San Jose’s Valley Medical Hospital. A GoFundMe page has been established to help the family, who are in need of basic items and baby supplies. The accident occurred as heavy winds crashed trees and cut electric service to over 100,000 PG&E customers in the Bay area.

Seriousness of an Accident Involving a Falling Tree

Falling tree accidents can have serious, sometimes even fatal consequences. In a matter of seconds, a falling tree can cause damage to people and property alike. Common injuries from falling trees include broken bones, head trauma, spinal cord injuries and even death. It is also important to remember that the financial toll of these accidents goes beyond medical bills and lost wages due to missed work in addition to your pain and suffering.

Seeking Medical Attention and Contacting an Injury Lawyer

If you have been injured by a falling tree, it is important that you seek immediate medical attention first and foremost. Then, you should contact an experienced personal injury attorney who can help protect your rights and get the compensation you deserve. It is essential to hold the negligent party responsible for their actions and to know that you are not alone in this process. By taking the appropriate steps, you can ensure that justice is served and that no one else has to experience the devastating effects of a tree accident.

California Responsibility in Tree Accidents

Tree owners in California have a responsibility to ensure the safety of those on their property from falling tree accidents. Liability when trees fall and cause injuries or fatalities can depend on their location. The homeowner is responsible for trees on their own property. If the tree straddles a property line, both homeowners may be liable for injuries from a falling tree. If the tree stands on commercial or government property, those entities may be liable.
