Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Accident Injures Modesto Man
I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto personal injury lawyer. A Modesto man was riding his motorcycle on the evening of Thursday, December 14, 2017. The man was involved in a collision with a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck allegedly fled the scene upon impact, and unfortunately, left the victim behind to suffer from his injuries.
A 55-year-old Modesto man was riding his motorcycle westbound along Highway 108 and Highway 120 in the vicinity of east O’Byrnes Ferry Road at approximately 5:30 pm. The man was traveling behind a pickup truck when for unknown reasons, the motorist of the pickup truck conducted a U-turn in front of the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the pickup truck in his path, resulting in a serious collision. The pickup truck driver allegedly left the scene following the accident.
Nature of Injuries
Medical personnel was called to the scene of the motorcycle accident. Upon arrival, they located the injured rider of the motorcycle. Emergency responders transported the man to an area hospital for treatment of major injuries.
We extend our hopes for a speedy and full recovery to the motorcyclist that was injured in this senseless accident.
An accident investigation is underway by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The suspect vehicle involved in the hit-and-run accident is described as a single cab pickup truck with a lumber rack. The driver’s side of the vehicle also has a green rectangular company logo. The driver of the suspect vehicle was described as a Latino male in his 30’s or 40’s. CHP investigators believe that the vehicle may have sustained damages from the driver’s side to the rear wheel.
Hit-and-Run Accidents Involving Motorcyclists
Hit-and-run accidents are devastating whenever they occur, regardless of whether the victim was walking as a pedestrian, driving a car or riding a motorcycle. Any time a motorist flees the scene of an accident, the wounded party may suffer traumatic, catastrophic or even fatal injuries. This may evidently result in property damage, medical expenses and even lost wages. When a victim has suffered losses resulting from a hit-and-run accident, it is vital to fall back on your own automobile insurance policy if you carry Uninsured/Under-insured Motorist Protection (UM). Although UM coverage is optional in the state of California, it is important to add it to your insurance policy for incidents like this one.
