Hit-and-Run DUI Crash Near Modesto Area
Modesto area officials recently reported a hit-and-run crash resulting in injuries to at least one party and the arrest of a driver on suspicion of DUI. The incident was said to have taken place after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2022, in the area of Albers Road and Dusty Lane.
Details on the Hit-and-Run Crash Near the Modesto Area
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 26-year-old man from Los Angeles was behind the wheel of a 2003 Volkswagen sedan that was traveling northbound on Albers Road. CHP traffic officers indicated that the Volkswagen partially entered the oncoming traffic lane where it was involved in a collision with a 2016 Nissan SUV. A third vehicle, a 2022 Kia sedan, was said to have been involved in the car accident as it was struck by debris when the Nissan and Volkswagen crashed.
After the motor vehicle collision, the Volkswagen driver and their two passengers allegedly fled the scene on foot. The California Highway Patrol received assistance from Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies in tracking down the parties, apprehending them, and bringing them back to the wreck site. The Volkswagen driver was arrested on felony charges of hit-and-run causing bodily injury and driving under the influence (DUI). Officials indicated that he would be arrested once he had been medically cleared from the treatment of minor injuries.
The Nissan driver, a 32-year-old Turlock resident, was transported via ambulance to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of injuries described as minor. The Kia driver, a 21-year-old Denair resident, was uninjured in the crash, according to officials. Additional information on the hit-and-run accident has not yet been released by authorities as an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
