Hit and Run Crash Injures Stockton Man

A hit and run in Stockton left a pedestrian with serious injuries on February 8, 2019. The incident occurred around 7:30 in the evening at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and West Alpine Avenue. A 27-year-old man was walking in a marked crosswalk located at the intersection when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the car reportedly left the man in the road and drove away from the scene following the pedestrian accident. Unfortunately, the pedestrian suffered injuries described as significant but non-life-threatening in the crash.

Accident Investigation

The cause of the accident is unknown due to a pending investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Authorities are looking for an older compact sedan which they believe to be similar to a Toyota Corolla or Tercel. The vehicle is expected to have extensive damage to the front bumper, hood or windshield as well as missing a right rear hubcap. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.

Recovering Damages in a Hit and Run Collision

A driver responsible for a hit and run accident is not always identified in some cases. In these situations, the injured pedestrian may be able to collect compensation from his or her own automobile insurance policy. This is only possible if the injured party has uninsured/underinsured motorist protection. Having this type of coverage is essential in the event of a car wreck involving a driver who has insufficient policy limits to cover your injuries or one who did not have car insurance at all. Conversely, it may cover damages incurred in an accident caused by a hit and run driver. Common Reasons for Hit and Run Accidents

There is a wide array of reasons why a driver fails to pull over or abandons their car and flees on foot. The motorist may be concerned over the consequences of the collision, mainly if they believe it was their fault. Other reasons may include drunk driving, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license, invalid plates, and more.
