Bicyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident Near Stockton

A man was riding his bicycle in east Stockton early on Monday, December 18, 2017. The man was struck by an oncoming vehicle that left the area upon impact. Sadly, the victim was left behind at the scene to suffer from their injuries until officials and medical personnel arrived.

Accident Details

A 34-year-old man was bicycling northbound along Wilson Way near East Harding Way at approximately 4:30 am. At the same time, a black SUV also traveled northbound on Wilson Way and struck the bicyclist. The driver of that vehicle allegedly fled the scene following the collision, unfortunately, leaving the victim to suffer from his injuries.

Nature of Injuries

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the bicycle accident. Medics performed a medical evaluation on the injured bicyclist. The evaluation stated that the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Officials have not yet indicated whether the victim was hospitalized for their injuries.

Accident Investigation

The Stockton Police Department is responsible for the hit-and-run accident investigation. A cause has not yet been determined due to an ongoing investigation. Authorities believe that the suspect vehicle, identified as a newer model SUV in black color, may have sustained front-end damage as a result of the impact.
