Highway Collision Injures Vallejo Woman
I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo car accident lawyer. On Monday, June 26, 2017, a 22-year-old woman from Vallejo suffered traumatic injuries in a rollover collision on a Vallejo highway.
Accident Details
According to preliminary reports released by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision occurred shortly before 4:25 a.m. at the off-ramp for westbound Highway 37 on eastbound Highway Interstate 80. CHP Officer Kevin Duncan told reporters that the woman had been driving east on I-80 when her vehicle, a 2000 Acura, overturned for unknown reasons when it entered the off ramp.
Additionally, no other vehicles were reported to be involved in the incident.
Injuries and Response
When emergency medical responders arrived at the collision, they discovered that the vehicle had sustained significant damage during the accident and had ultimately landed on its roof. The woman was found inside the vehicle with major injuries and was rushed by ambulance to the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vacaville. No further information about the woman’s condition has been reported so far.
Possible Causes
Officials are still investigating what may have caused this car accident and CHP has not reported whether or not they suspect driving under the influence to have played a part. Possible causal factors of the crash include the darkness of the roadway, speeding, dangerous road conditions, faulty car parts, and more.
Recent Vallejo Accidents
This injury collision has occurred not long after other major injury collisions in Vallejo.
On Friday, June 23. 2017, a motorcyclist in Vallejo received life-threatening traumatic injuries after being involved in an accident. The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) reported that the motorcyclist ran a stop sign at the intersection of Louisiana and Santa Clara streets and collided with the broadside of a vehicle in the intersection. Rollover Accidents
According to research conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rollover accidents are especially dangerous and involve fatalities more often than other types of vehicle accidents. NHTSA’s data indicates that around 35 percent of all vehicle accident deaths are due to rollover accidents while rollover accidents account for only around 2 percent of all collisions. Additionally, the majority of people killed in rollover accidents were found to have not been wearing a seatbelt.
