CHP traffic officials reported that the incident prompted the response of fire department crews to shut down the area. An American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance was requested to the scene to assist those injured in the traffic collision.

Officials initially reported that the Toyota driver suffered serious injuries in the head-on collision. She was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for immediate treatment. An update by CHP indicated that she succumbed to her injuries during hospitalization. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has recently identified the decedent as 64-year-old Olga Bentulan of Oakdale.

The Ford driver, a 41-year-old Waterford man, sustained injuries described as minor. Officials said he declined medical care. A child that was in the pickup with the Ford driver was uninjured, CHP traffic officers reported. Information on the motor vehicle crash, what led up to the incident, was not immediately available.

What to Expect from the Claims Process Following a Motor Vehicle Accident

Traffic collisions are often unavoidable situations for many drivers in California, including Modesto. When a car accident results in injuries and damages, the injured party may be entitled to financial compensation. The process generally involves bringing a bodily injury claim with the insurance company representing the party responsible for the incident. In cases where the other driver does not have liability coverage or is not enough to cover resulting losses, an injured party may have recourse through their plan if they carry uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage (UM and UIM).

After the challenges of being involved in a car wreck, an injured party may be tempted to accept an initial settlement offer from the insurer to get their life back on track. The unfortunate reality is that the first settlement offers the insurance company makes may be far less than what the case is actually worth. There are various facts and circumstances involved in each personal injury case, all of which should be considered. An injured party should receive fair compensation for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and other losses they have experienced because of the crash.

Dealing with insurers following a traffic collision may be a frustrating and time-consuming process, to say the least. This includes working with your own insurance carrier. Know first and foremost that the claims adjuster is looking to make a quick settlement offer on a personal injury claim as a way of protecting the insurance company’s bottom line. They are not concerned about the interests of claimants, only their own. That is why discussing a claim with an insurance adjuster before retaining legal counsel may be met with its own unique set of consequences. To protect your rights, you should discuss your case with an experienced injury lawyer in your area. For information on how to find the best one, watch this video.
