Gridley Hit-and-Run Accident Causes Injuries

On Wednesday, April 29, 2020, a Gridley hit-and-run accident left at least one person with injuries. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash happened at night on State Route 99, around one mile to the south of the city of Gridley. The collision involved two vehicles. Officers have indicated that driving under the influence of alcohol may have been a factor in this accident.

Crash Details

According to traffic reports from CHP, the accident occurred at about 9:24 p.m. on State Route 99 near the exit located at Riviera Road. The collision involved a white Nissan Altima as well as a Dodge. Details about how the two vehicles collided have not yet been made available. Police indicated that the crash caused the Nissan to travel off-road and eventually crash into a nearby ditch.

Response and Investigation

Following the accident, the Dodge driver drove away from the scene heading south on 99. Police are reportedly still trying to locate the missing driver and vehicle. While the severity of injuries suffered during the accident was not indicated, police reports show that an ambulance was called to the collision location. CHP stated that the hit-and-run driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Hit-and-Run Accidents

After a car accident, survivors are frequently left with injuries that are both difficult and expensive to recover from. In many cases, survivors can pay for their medical expenses and cover lost income by filing personal injury claims and holding at-fault parties such as reckless drivers financially liable. However, if the at-fault driver can’t be found, crash survivors often worry about what they will be able to do to afford their recovery.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage

Fortunately, it is often possible for survivors of hit-and-run car accidents to claim compensation even if the other driver is never found. This is possible by utilizing a part of your insurance policy called “uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.” In many cases, using this coverage provides people with the money they need to move on with their life after being seriously hurt in a crash.

However, it’s important to know that this coverage is optional in CA, and not everybody has it, and the amount of money available can differ depending on your policy. Even if you do have this kind of coverage, your insurance company may offer you less compensation than you actually deserve. For these reasons, it’s very important that you have a good attorney to help you claim full compensation and negotiate with your insurance company if necessary.

Finding the Right Lawyer
