Four People Injured During Car Accident in Eureka

Four People Hurt During Car Accident in Eureka

On Wednesday, July 29, 2020, a car accident in Eureka left four people with injuries. According to the Eureka Police Department (EPD), this incident took place in the evening in a residential area of the city and involved two passenger vehicles. The extent of the injuries suffered during the crash has not yet been reported.

Collision Details

Information from EPD states that the crash happened at around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Elizabeth and Burrill Streets in central Eureka. The circumstances leading up to the accident were not made clear, but police reported that the incident involved two sedans, one teal and one gray. Photos taken at the accident scene show the teal sedan crashed into the broadside of the other vehicle, causing major damage to its passenger door.

Police say that the collision involved a lot of force and caused airbags in both vehicles to deploy. The sound of the crash also reportedly sent area residents running outside to check on the survivors.

Response

Witnesses contacted EPD about the accident, and an emergency team was immediately dispatched to the site. According to police, four people were discovered at the accident scene with injuries, and one of the injured individuals transported themselves to an area hospital. Whether or not the other three received hospital care was not reported.

Investigation

EPD has indicated that their officers are currently investigating what could have caused this collision. Police have suggested that the teal sedan may not have seen the other vehicle, but no other factors have been mentioned. Investigation of multi-vehicle accidents can be complex, and many of these types of crashes involve non-driver collision factors like malfunctioning auto parts.

Common Car Accident Injuries

Car accidents involve a lot of force and vehicle occupants are likely to suffer a range of serious injuries. However, some injury types happen more frequently than others. During my time as a Eureka personal injury attorney, I’ve seen many of these common accident injuries:

  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Bone fractures
  • Internal bleeding
  • Facial lacerations
  • Cervical sprains
  • Burn injuries

All of these can be severe and are liable to have a huge impact on you and your family’s lives. For many people, suffering a major injury requires a long and expensive recovery process that involves extensive medical care and significant time away from your job.

Getting Help

Fortunately, crash survivors can reach out for help. By working with a lawyer and pursuing injury claim compensation, many people can obtain the money they need to pay for their medical expenses. In addition to medical bills, personal injury case compensation can help people cover income they’ve lost, damaged property, personal suffering, and other serious damages.

However, every case is different and liable parties usually try to disclaim responsibility. For these reasons, you should always seek advice from a professional injury lawyer before making any decisions about your case.
