Four Injured, One Killed During Vallejo Hit-and-Run

Vallejo Police Department (VPD) indicated that one woman died during a Vallejo hit-and-run on Saturday, August 31, 2019. In addition to the fatally injured woman, four more individuals suffered trauma during the accident. Police say that the accident involved two vehicles, one driving away from the crash scene and was located later on. The driver of the hit-and-run vehicle has reportedly been taken into police custody, and this accident remains under investigation.

Accident Details

Police received a call notifying them of the collision at around 12:40 p.m. Callers noted that the crash had occurred at Valle Vista Avenue and Redwood Street. When police arrived, they found that a gold-colored 1999 Nissan Maxima had suffered significant damage to its front end. Later, police found the second vehicle, a black-colored 2005 Nissan Altima, at the intersection of Panorama Drive and Tuolumne Street, around three blocks from the site of the collision.

Reports indicate that the Maxima had been driving west on Redwood Street while the Altima had been driving on the same road heading east. The Altima attempted to make a left turn and entered the path of the oncoming Maxima before the two cars collided. After the collision, the Altima drove away.

Injuries

All four occupants of the Altima were found with injuries. One passenger, identified as a 33-year-old woman, was tragically pronounced dead. The driver, a 53-year-old male, suffered a broken ankle, while another passenger, a 40-year-old man, suffered a broken leg. The fourth passenger of the Altima, as well as the Maxima driver, reportedly sustained minor trauma. A passenger in the Maxima was uninjured during the incident.

Investigation

Police have stated that they are actively investigating this accident. So far, a full report regarding suspected collision factors has not been released. VPD has asked that anybody with information about the incident contact Officer Kenny Trimble by calling (707) 648-4011.
