Fortuna Area Auto Accident Severely Injures Two Men
On Sunday, August 27, 2020, two people suffered serious injuries during a Fortuna area auto accident. According to Humboldt Area California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred in the small community of Ferndale and involved only a single passenger vehicle. The injured individuals have been identified as two 39-year-old men, one from Ferndale and the other from Fortuna. Both men were hospitalized, and updates on their conditions remain unavailable.
Crash Details
The accident took place just before 7:00 p.m. on Bluff Street to the west of Grizzly Bluff Road. When CHP arrived at the scene, they determined that the Ferndale man had been driving a 2005 Cadillac sedan eastbound on Bluff Street when his vehicle veered off of the road for unknown reasons. After driving off the road, the Cadillac’s passenger side struck a nearby tree, causing major damage to the vehicle.
Officers responding to the accident discovered both individuals were inside of the vehicle and had sustained major injuries. Both men were placed on ambulances and driven to the St. Joseph’s hospital in Eureka to receive emergency treatment. Details about the nature of their injuries were not reported.
Investigation
Humboldt CHP has indicated that they are conducting an active investigation into possible causes of this serious collision. Additionally, officers have put out a press release asking for public help with their investigation.
