Fiery Shasta Crash Kills One, Injures Two

On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, a fiery Shasta crash left one person with fatal trauma and injured two other individuals. The accident reportedly happened on a local highway after the sun had set. The identity of the decedent is being withheld until authorities of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office are able to notify the man’s next-of-kin. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that they are investigating the accident in order to determine what causal factors were involved.

Crash Information

According to reports, a vehicle had been traveling west on Highway 299 in the Rock Creek area. At this time, a deer walked into the roadway, entering the path of the vehicle. The driver swerved in an attempt to avoid the deer, but collided with it anyway. The impact caused the vehicle to drift into the eastbound side of the highway where it struck a second car. The secondary collision caused the eastbound vehicle to catch fire.

Emergency response officials were immediately dispatched to the crash site. When they arrived, response teams found that three occupants were trapped inside of the burning vehicle. Two out of the three individuals were saved from the wreck while the last person tragically lost their life during the incident. The two survivors were taken to the Mercy Medical hospital to be treated for severe and moderate injuries.

Investigation

Officials have stated that a CHP Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team was sent to the accident site and that investigators surveyed the crash scene for several hours in order to screen the area for evidence. So far, a full report on causal factors in the accident has not been released, and an investigation is ongoing.

Wrongful Death Compensation

Families who’ve lost a member during an accident are frequently left in a difficult situation. Not only do they need to process their grief, but financial issues stemming from fatal accidents can be overwhelming. Paying for medical costs and funeral expenses while suffering from a loss of income can seem impossible, and many people are unsure of how they can afford to regain their family’s wellbeing. For these reasons, it’s very important to discuss your accident with a compassionate, experienced wrongful death lawyer. Speaking to an attorney over the phone is usually free of charge, so it’s a great way to get the information you need to move forward with claiming the compensation you and your loved ones deserve.
