Spoken Word Open Mic

This community event encourages anyone to attend, regardless of whether it’s your first open mic experience. There will be speakers reciting slam poetry and many inspirational and bilingual pieces. Ultimately, artists are welcome to come and speak whatever truth they want to give the community, as long as it doesn’t harm the constructive and safe atmosphere that Justin’s Kitchen intends to provide. Audience participation and engagement are part of the foundation, so come by and grab a bite while you absorb the unexpected literary revelations that will take place.
Have a Heart for Kids 5K Run/Walk

Admission: $40 tickets
A 5K run (or walk) that simultaneously acts as a fundraiser for Yuba City’s Education Foundation – what better way is there to enhance yourself and your community all at once? The 5K will start at the track of River Valley High School. A warm-up will begin at approximately 8:45, and the event officially ends at 9 a.m. Breakfast and awards will be distributed shortly afterward. Run or walk for a cause that matters, and feel free to make any additional donations online.
World of Wonders Playgroup

Admission: Free
Calling all caretakers for children between the ages of 0 – 5, bring your little ones to this playgroup that fosters fun, creativity, and personal development. Sutter County Library provides a place to connect with other locals and continue building a positive community. Children will laugh, explore, and create while opening up to the fascinating ways play inspires learning. Once a month, they come together to play, pretend, enjoy music, and create art while offering new resources for caregivers and observing the beauty of child development. Free materials are provided at the playgroup.
