Fatal Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision on Highway 70 in East Quincy

A fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision on Highway 70 in East Quincy occurred Monday night, February 23, 2026, claiming the life of a female pedestrian.

According to the California Highway Patrol – Quincy Area Office, officers responded to reports around 10:35 p.m. near Mill Creek Road. Upon arrival, responders found a female pedestrian who had been struck in the eastbound traffic lane. Despite life-saving efforts by CHP and the Plumas County Sheriff’s Department, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Preliminary investigations indicate she was traveling eastbound at an undetermined speed when the crash occurred. The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office is handling the death investigation in collaboration with CHP’s Collision Investigation Team.
