Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash Near Merced County

I’m Ed Smith, a Merced wrongful death lawyer. A three-vehicle crash occurred in Livingston during the afternoon of Friday, July 14, 2017. Sadly, the accident caused two victims to suffer traumatic injuries and one victim to suffer fatal injuries.

Accident Details

A 39-year-old Merced woman was behind the wheel of her 2002 Chevrolet Impala driving northbound along Walnut Avenue in the vicinity of Sultana Drive at about 2:00 pm. After leaving from the stop sign at the intersection, the Chevrolet collided with a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant. The impact of the collision propelled the Mitsubishi into the path of oncoming traffic. A 2001 Dodge Dakota was approaching the Mitsubishi and was unable to avoid the vehicle, which resulted in a serious head-on collision.

Was Anybody Injured?

The female motorist of the Chevrolet Impala and her 50-year-old male passenger escaped injuries in the accident. The two vehicle occupants of the Dodge Dakota were identified as a 52-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, both from Winton. The two Winton residents both suffered major injuries as a result of the crash. The male driver was transported via air ambulance to a local hospital and the female passenger was taken by ground ambulance to a near by hospital. Unfortunately, the driver of the Mitsubishi Galant was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the woman that passed away in this tragic automobile accident.

Crash Investigation

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Authorities generally take up to two weeks to process a Traffic Collision Report. A traffic report may sometimes contain an error when determining the at-fault party. It is recommended, particularly when someone has lost their life, to contact an experienced personal injury lawyer who can conduct an independent investigation of the crash scene and study the order of events leading up to the accident to accurately pinpoint the at-fault party. When the party who is responsible for the crash is determined a claim can be filed to recover damages sustained in the crash, including wrongful death.

Similar Three-Vehicle Crash Near Lodi

A similar three-vehicle crash happened in Lodi on June 15, 2017. A motorist was driving their silver Honda northbound along Lower Sacramento Road near East Woodbridge Road. The driver allegedly allowed their car to enter the northbound lane of travel and sideswiped a white Honda. The silver Honda proceeded in the opposing lane of travel and struck a Jeep Cherokee head-on. A Cadillac also traveling in the northbound lane struck the left side of the silver Honda. The impact caused the Cadillac to receive serious front-end damage. Authorities reported that several victims suffered traumatic injuries as a result of the collision.
