TEXTING AND DRIVING ACCIDENT KILLS FATHER, INJURES SON

A man who fled Afghanistan to escape the violence of the Taliban was killed ten days after coming to this country. While riding their bikes outside on their bikes, Mustafa Rafi and his 8-year-old son struck by a motorist who was distracted by looking down at a text message on his cell phone. The accident occurred just before 10:00 am Saturday Morning.
Rafi had worked as a translator with the US Military for 7 years. According to a friend, Rafi and his family had come to the United States with the hope of getting a safer a safer life and to get away from the threat of insurgents, the Taliban and ISIS.

The accident demonstrates that the danger of texting while driving may be a more serious threat than a terrorist attack.  Sadly, texting while driving is preventable.  Inattention due to texting and driving is a major contributing factor for auto collisions.  We recently published a video on YouTube:  Distracted Driving is like Driving Blind.

When an injury occurs as a result of an accident involving a motor vehicle and bicycle, it is imperative that an experienced bicycle accident  attorney investigate the underlying cause or causes of the accident. Without prompt investigation, valuable evidence that explain what happened may be lost or destroyed.
