Fatal Rollover Crash at Hartnell and Victor Avenues in Redding
A woman was killed and two juvenile passengers were injured in a fatal rollover crash at Hartnell and Victor Avenues in Redding on Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 2026.
According to the Redding Police Department, officers responded to reports of the crash around 1:49 p.m. and found a white pickup truck overturned on its roof and an orange Subaru with significant front-end damage.
Investigators Say Driver Ran Red Light While on FaceTime
Authorities said the female driver of the pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Hartnell Avenue and was actively using FaceTime on her cellphone when she failed to stop for a red light at Victor Avenue. Her vehicle then collided with the Subaru driven by Daniel Reed, a 41-year-old resident of Redding.
The force of the collision caused the pickup truck to roll over and come to rest on its roof. Investigators reported that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected during the crash. She suffered fatal injuries as a result.
Two juvenile passengers who were inside the truck were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Safety Reminder: Avoid Distractions and Always Wear a Seatbelt
This tragic collision highlights the dangers of distracted driving. Using a phone for activities such as video calls while driving can take a driver’s attention away from the road for critical moments, increasing the risk of serious crashes. Drivers should always put their phones away, obey traffic signals, and remain focused on the road. Wearing a seatbelt at all times is also crucial, as it significantly reduces the risk of fatal injury in rollover crashes.
