Fatal Napa Hit-and-Run

I’m Ed Smith, a Napa car accident lawyer. According to the District Attorney’s office, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, a woman was charged with felony hit-and-run resulting in death at the Napa County Superior Court. The woman’s husband was also charged as an accessory after the fact. The details of the collision and more information can be read here.

Accident Details

According to the Napa Police Department (NPD), the collision took place at about 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017, in Napa on Redwood Road a short distance west of the intersection at Solano Avenue.

Police reported that the 47-year-old Napa woman had been driving a white 2005 Cadillac Escalade Sports Utility Vehicle when she struck pedestrian Andrew Lynch, a 57-year-old male resident of Napa. Witnesses of the accident reported that the driver of the SUV stopped after hitting the pedestrian, exited her vehicle, approached the injured man, then got back in her car and drove away.

Fatal Injuries

When emergency responders arrived at the scene of the crash, they found that Lynch had sustained major traumatic injuries and transported him to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Lynch eventually succumbed to his injuries and passed away at about 2:11 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017.

Medical officials have reported that Lynch sustained critical injuries to his head as well as a broken spine, pelvis, and neck.

We extend our sympathies to the family and friends of Andrew Lynch who passed away as a result of this tragedy.

Arresting Suspects

The woman who is suspected to have fatally injured Lynch was arrested at about 5:52 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2017, at a traffic stop conducted by an officer of the Santa Rosa Police Department. The arrest was made on the 400 block of Russell Avenue, according to police Lt. Brian Campagna.

The husband of the suspect was arrested at 5:15 p.m. the previous day at the couple’s residence on the 2200 block of Napa’s Tejas Street while officers of the NPD were serving a search warrant.

Wrongful Death

Losing somebody that you care about is a very difficult process. Those who have lost someone dear to them can often feel overwhelmed dealing with the aspects of a wrongful death case.

Calling a lawyer as soon as possible can not only help you to focus on the important task of healing but can be critical in preventing key evidence from being obscured.
