The California Highway Patrol reported a fatal vehicle versus motorcycle collision in Kings County on June 24, 2023. The incident was described as a head-on collision that involved a motorcycle and a 1999 Toyota pickup truck. Officials said it occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. on State Route 198 close to 7th Avenue in Kings County.

A preliminary report by authorities revealed that an 18-year-old man was driving his Toyota pickup truck eastbound on SR-198. At the same time, a 52-year-old man was riding his motorcycle with his passenger, a woman, age 49, westbound on State Route 198. CHP traffic officers indicated that, for a reason not yet determined, the Toyota driver allegedly veered off the roadway, went across the dirt center median, and was involved in a head-on collision with the motorcyclist and his passenger.

Sadly, the biker, Robert Rodriguez, age 52, suffered fatal injuries at the crash site. The passenger on the motorcycle, the wife of Mr. Rodriguez, suffered major injuries and was transported via air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment. A campaign has been established by the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) in support of Mr. Rodriguez and his family. Additional information on the fatal motorcycle collision on SR-198 in Kings County was unavailable as an ongoing investigation.
