Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on High Street
The Oakland Police Department reported a fatal hit-and-run crash at International Boulevard and High Street on the night of October 25, 2023. The crash occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. and involved a pedestrian and four vehicles, officials said.

A preliminary report indicated that a Kia Sorento SUV was traveling eastbound on International Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The Kia reportedly struck a Pontiac Vibe whose driver was hospitalized for minor injuries. The impact of the collision allegedly propelled the Kia into two parked vehicles along the southbound side of the roadway.
The two parked vehicles reportedly pinned a pedestrian, causing their leg to be severed. Sadly, the pedestrian, a 40-year-old man, succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The Kia driver allegedly left the crash site following the incident. Further details have not yet been released. An investigation is underway by Oakland PD.
