Fatal Elderly Pedestrian Accident
I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto pedestrian accident attorney. A pickup truck crashed into an elderly pedestrian in Modesto on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Sadly, the pedestrian died due to the serious nature of her injuries.
What Happened?
An elderly woman was walking along East Whitmore Avenue in the vicinity of Hughson High School shortly before 8:00 pm. A driver was behind the wheel of a pickup truck crashed into the elderly woman. Deputies from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the scene for a reported pedestrian accident at approximately 8:00 pm. When authorities arrived, they discovered the elderly woman was in bad shape and she was quickly transported to a local hospital. The elderly woman later passed away due to the fatal extent of her injuries.

The following video demonstrates the scene of the pedestrian accident. As you can see in the video, the motorist’s pickup truck remained at the scene while authorities investigated into the accident. The video that appears below is not graphic.
What Caused the Pedestrian Accident?
An exact cause of the pedestrian accident has not been determined at this time. There were no immediate details regarding why the elderly woman was walking on this stretch of the road. The area is located in a school zone on the north and a rural property zone expands to the south. It was very dark out there at the time of the pedestrian crash and that may have been a factor in the crash. Investigators do not suspect that drugs or alcohol were involved. Authorities also indicated that the driver may not be cited for this accident.
