Fatal Bicycle Crash on Atlantic Avenue

On January 31, 2023, the Union City Police Department reported a fatal vehicle versus bicycle crash on Atlantic Avenue. Union City PD officers responded to the incident, which was described as a major motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist at Atlantic Avenue and Central Avenue.

A preliminary report by Union City PD revealed that a motor vehicle was involved in a traffic collision with a cyclist. The injured bicyclist was transported to an area hospital for immediate treatment following the crash. Sadly, the cyclist, 69-year-old Hayward resident Paul Lupe Moreno, was declared deceased during hospitalization.

The motorist involved in the bicycle accident at Atlantic Avenue and Central Avenue remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to Union City PD.
