Collision With a Tree Along Greenback Lane Claims Life of Juvenile

A fatal accident in Folsom on May 20 shut down an area near American River Canyon Drive as the cause of the collision was investigated by authorities. According to a representative of the Folsom Police Department, the accident happened during the evening hours near Folsom Auburn Road when a solo vehicle carrying an adult and a juvenile hit a tree. The juvenile died in the collision, and the driver, who was the father, was uninjured.

Investigation Ongoing Into Cause of Single-Vehicle Fatal Accident

No information is being released at this time on the fatality. Greenback Lane was closed down between Folsom Auburn Road and American River Canyon Drive while an investigation into the cause of the fatal accident was conducted by authorities.

Outside Influences in a Single-Vehicle Fatal Accident

Although many single-vehicle accidents are caused by driver error, there are times when an outside influence was the reason for a crash. A single-vehicle accident may also be caused by the following:

  • Government failure to ensure proper maintenance along a road may lead to a fatal collision. Potholes, poor lighting, shrubbery that has overgrown a sign, weak guardrails on a highway, and numerous other causes can lead to a motor vehicle accident. If it is shown that government negligence led to an injury or fatal accident, that entity may be held responsible. The timeline permitted to file a claim against a government entity is shorter, and the help of an injury attorney to ensure the deadline is met may be helpful.
  • Road obstructions may occur when an object has fallen off a truck or car, or a piece of cargo has been lost, and the driver continued on without removing it, leading to an accident. In these cases, an investigation can lead to the identity of the driver, so they can be held responsible.
  • An auto defect such as a tire blowout or problems with the brakes or steering can lead to a fatal accident because the driver is unable to control the vehicle. When a defective product causes a wrongful death, a claim can be placed against the manufacturer and others in the production line.
  • An aggressive driver in a phantom vehicle can be responsible for an accident. Because no one else is at the collision scene, it may be assumed it is a solo vehicle crash. An investigation into the accident can prove that there was indeed another vehicle involved that fled the scene, and that is why the accident occurred.

Placing a Claim for Wrongful Death

By investigating an accident, it may be possible to prove that an outside influence was the cause of the loss of a loved one. Over the years, we’ve helped many families obtain compensation through a wrongful death claim. While it will not ease your grief or sense of loss, it can help obtain justice and a sense of closure that the responsible party was held accountable.
