Fairfield Man Involved in Fatal Bicycle Accident
I’m Ed Smith, a Fairfield wrongful death lawyer. A teenager was riding their bicycle in Concord on the evening of Sunday, February 17, 2018. This would, unfortunately, be the last bicycle ride the teenager would take due to an accident allegedly caused by a Fairfield man.
My sincere sympathies are with the friends and family of the young bicyclist that lost their life in this devastating accident.
Collision Details
Authorities reported that an accident involving a young bicyclist occurred along Willow Pass Road in the vicinity of Fry Way at approximately 6:51 pm. A 40-year-old Fairfield man was driving his pickup truck westbound along Willow Pass Road approaching Fry Way. At the same time, a bicyclist was crossing the street northbound on their bicycle using the crosswalk on the western side of the intersection. When the truck was exiting the intersection, the truck reportedly struck the bicyclist.
Bicyclist Suffers Fatal Injuries
The pickup truck driver reportedly stopped his vehicle following the bicycle accident and immediately contacted emergency personnel. The driver was uninjured in the collision and remained at the scene until authorities arrived. Responding officials indicated that the bicyclist, sadly, suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
Identity of Victim
The bicyclist was identified only as a 16-year-old Concord resident as his name is being withheld pending his family’s notification.
Investigation
Police closed the area down for nearly four hours while they conducted a preliminary investigation and collected evidence. Investigators stated that they have not yet determined a cause of the bicycle accident. However, officials do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have been involved in this collision.
