Drivers Transported to Folsom Hospital With Injuries

Tow trucks removed the vehicles from the scene. The injured parties were transported to Mercy Hospital of Folsom for evaluation and care. The CHP is conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Why a Two-Vehicle Crash Occurs at an Intersection

Intersections are notorious locations for a two-vehicle crash. With vehicles coming and going in all directions as well as bicyclists and pedestrians to watch out for, this is why more than half of all collisions occur at intersections. Two-vehicle collisions are the most common but can involve other cars easily. Negligence by one or both drivers is the usual cause. Some of the reasons a two-vehicle crash occurs include:

  • A driver who runs a red light or stop sign is one of the most common causes of a two-vehicle crash at an intersection.
  • Rear-end collisions often occur at intersections because the driver behind is distracted or speeding and cannot stop in time to avoid a crash.
  • Making a right-hand turn without a clear view of oncoming traffic from the left can end up causing a two-vehicle collision. These types of accidents are especially hazardous because the turning driver can end up being struck broadside.
  • Turning left just when the arrow has turned red can end up causing a two-vehicle crash with oncoming traffic.
  • Making an illegal U-turn can lead to a crash because other motorists don’t expect it.
  • Drunk drivers continue to be a hazard to other motorists. Their lack of judgment, reflexes and inability to safely handle a vehicle can end up causing a two-vehicle crash.
  • Fatigue is a danger to other motorists, especially after dark because the driver can fall asleep at the wheel and exhibits similar deficits to those of someone who is inebriated. In these cases, the driver’s vision may be blurry, or they just don’t realize they are going the wrong way.
  • Distracted driving is a major cause of a two-vehicle crash. Just looking at your cell phone to take five seconds to text or read an email is enough to cause an accident with another driver.

Recovering Compensation After an Accident

Over the years, our team of lawyers at AutoAccident.com has handled numerous traffic accident lawsuits with success. When needed, we can even handle court proceedings if necessary. We investigate the accident to gather the evidence needed to support your injury claim and negotiate on your behalf with the insurance company to recover the highest amount possible. Our target is to recover your medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering by getting you a fair settlement. Some of the areas in which we collect evidence include:

  • Our investigators go directly to the accident location to collect the evidence needed to support the client’s compensation claim.
  • They perform accident reconstruction, which indicates how the two-vehicle crash happened and often shows which driver was at fault.
  • Anyone who witnesses the accident as it happened is interviewed. In some cases, a witness has even captured the collision on their cell phone, which provides compelling evidence to support the client’s compensation claim.
  • The police report completed by the responding officers is inspected to confirm its accuracy. This is important because errors can affect a client’s ability to file a claim to recover damages.
  • Surveillance cameras in the area, whether from traffic lights, businesses or nearby homes, are checked to see if the accident was captured. If it was, we can subpoena those records.
