Four-Vehicle Accident Occurs on Hazel Avenue

A multiple-vehicle crash in Fair Oaks on March 26 ended up with six injured people being transported to a hospital. The accident happened along Hazel Avenue near Winding Way shortly after 9:00 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. The accident involved four vehicles. No information has been released yet on the extent of the injuries in the accident, which is being investigated by authorities to determine how it happened and to assign fault.

Can More Than One Driver Be Responsible for a Multiple-Vehicle Crash?

A multiple-vehicle crash is almost always caused by some type of negligence. In many cases, more than one driver is at fault, especially on a congested road at higher speeds. It is the lawyer’s job to find out which driver/drivers are responsible and hold them accountable. In this way, the client can obtain the compensation that they deserve. Below are a few reasons why negligence is involved in these accidents:

  • Distracted driving: Texting and talking on a cell phone while concentrating on the road have become major causes of distracted driving accidents. When a driver is texting, he or she has one hand on a device while writing, the attention is diverted and the eyes are focused on the screen. There is a high probability of an accident happening when this occurs.
  • Drunk driving: Accidents caused by drunk driving remain common. A multiple-vehicle crash happens when a drunk driver is behind the wheel of a car, as they cannot control their vehicle’s speed, have blurred vision and are slow to react.
  • Speeding: A multiple-vehicle crash also often occurs due to a speeding driver. As a result of the driver’s excessive speed, they cannot slow down in time to avoid a collision when traffic slows ahead or comes to a stop. Attempting to stop too quickly can also cause the driver to lose control, making the car fishtail and collide with other vehicles.
  • Fatigue: There has been an increase in fatigue-related traffic accidents in recent years because people work long hours and multiple jobs in some cases. Tired drivers have difficulty concentrating on driving when they are behind the wheel of a vehicle. In addition, a driver may fall asleep while driving without even realizing it or may cross over to another lane, which can result in a serious accident.
