Eureka Woman Fatally Injured During Motorcycle Versus Vehicle Crash

On Friday, September 18, 2020, a Eureka woman tragically lost her life after she suffered injuries during an auto accident. California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that the collision involved a motorcycle as well as a passenger vehicle and occurred on a local road. Humboldt County authorities have identified the fatally injured motorcyclist as a 29-year-old Eureka resident. Additionally, one other person reportedly suffered injuries during the accident.

Collision Details

The accident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on Walnut Drive on the eastern side of Eureka. According to police, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Walnut at a speed of around 40 miles per hour. For reasons that are not currently understood, the motorcycle entered southbound traffic lanes. After it crossed the median, the motorcycle entered the path of an oncoming Dodge Nitro SUV. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing major damage to both.

The collision was reported to CHP, who immediately rushed responders to the location. Medical officials reaching the scene discovered the motorcyclist with critical injuries and attempted lifesaving procedures. However, the woman was tragically pronounced deceased on-site. According to reports, the SUV driver was left with minor trauma as a result of the crash. Whether or not the driver received hospital care was not reported.

Investigation

CHP has stated that they are currently conducting an investigation into possible causes of this terrible accident. At this time, investigating officers haven’t indicated what factors, if any, they suspect to have been involved. In many cases, accidents like this one include multiple causes, some of which are outside of the motorist’s control. Such non-motorist accident factors frequently include defective motorcycle or car parts, hazards in the road, and more.

The process of investigating a fatal collision can be challenging. Because police can’t ask the decedent questions about the incident, they may never uncover important evidence. Often, this evidence could have been a critical part of a wrongful death case. To make sure your family is able to hold at-fault parties accountable, it’s important to reach out to an attorney who can privately investigate the collision.

Calling an Attorney

Directly after fatal accidents, families can feel completely overwhelmed and may even be in a state of shock. This is understandable, and the pain that families experience can be immense. However, the sad truth is that at-fault parties usually aren’t going through the same emotions and will act right away in order to defend themselves from any financial responsibility. For this reason, calling a lawyer right away is critical. To learn more about finding a compassionate, competent attorney, watch this video:
