Elderly Man Killed in Glenn County Accident

A Glenn County accident that took place on Friday, April 17, 2020, left one person with fatal trauma. The decedent has since been identified by officials as 89-year-old Glenn County resident Allen Alves. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the wreck took place on a rural road just outside of the community of Willows. The collision remains under a CHP investigation at this time.

Crash Details

The accident was first discovered when CHP officers on patrol found Alves’ vehicle wrecked near the intersection of County Roads 41 and U. The vehicle was reportedly discovered inside of a drainage ditch that was partially full of water. After investigating the crash scene, police indicated that they believe the accident happened at around 2:40 p.m. and only involved one vehicle. The make and model of Alves’ vehicle have not been specified.

Investigation of Glenn County Accident

As officers of CHP continue trying to determine what caused this tragic accident, there haven’t been any reports regarding likely factors. Single-vehicle crashes can be caused by multiple factors and many of these causes are things that the involved driver doesn’t have any control over. These can include common factors like roadway issues or defective car parts.

Collisions like this one are especially difficult for police to investigate because there are no surviving parties to tell officers what happened. Because investigators are unable to gather testimony, they often don’t notice important evidence that could implicate negligent parties, leaving families unable to hold those parties responsible.

To ensure that the crash is investigated to the fullest extent, the best thing to do is contact a skilled, experienced wrongful death lawyer. By using their resources to look into the accident, your lawyer can ensure that the crash is investigated with your rights in mind.

Wrongful Death Damages

Losing a friend or family member is never easy, and it isn’t possible to truly replace the love and care of somebody in your life. However, families of people who’ve been fatally injured in car accidents are often able to claim compensation for both economic and personal losses. These payments can help families make up for lost income and can provide people with security during a very difficult period of their lives.

Common economic damage compensation in wrongful death claims includes things like payments for funeral and burial costs, lost income, medical expenses, and other things that come with a set price. Personal damages include things like loss of companionship or parental guidance.

Getting in Touch With an Attorney

Families often experience intense grief after losing somebody in a deadly crash. These emotions can be overwhelming and often cause people to delay taking legal action. However, negligent parties are typically very quick to begin defending themselves and having a lawyer early on in a wrongful death case is often crucial. By contacting a lawyer as soon as you can, you can be sure that your case is being handled by an expert, allowing you and your family to focus on spending time processing your grief.
