A crash on Briggsmore Avenue left eight parties injured on the afternoon of Saturday, April 2, 2022. The traffic collision took place along the Briggsmore Avenue overpass of State Route 99 around 5:20 p.m., according to the Modesto Police Department (Modesto PD).

Details on the Crash on Briggsmore Avenue That Left Eight Parties Injured

The car accident was described as a mass casualty incident (MCI) to alert hospitals in the area of incoming patients. A total of seven vehicles were involved in the traffic collision, and at least one party required emergency extrication, Modesto PD said.

Eight parties were injured and hospitalized following the multi-vehicle accident, the Modesto Fire Department reported. No details were immediately available on the sequence of events leading up to the car wreck, whether any children were involved, and the severity of accident-related injuries.

Car Accidents and Personal Injury Claims

Motor vehicle collisions have the potential to result in a wide array of consequences, one of the main being injuries. Depending on the type of car accident and the area of impact, crashes may cause trauma to any part of the body. No matter the safety protections a vehicle is equipped with, traumatic injuries may still occur, and all require medical care that may range from weeks to months. In some cases, permanent disability may result, and injured parties are often left behind to pick up the pieces. The steps taken following a traffic collision may have a considerable impact on the outcome of a personal injury claim brought against the insurance company representing the at-fault party. Understanding what steps to take may be stressful and overwhelming, to say the least.

Medical treatment should be a priority following a car wreck resulting in serious injuries, aside from contacting emergency personnel and collecting evidence at the scene. It is understandable that trauma may not be immediately apparent due to the adrenaline experienced from the incident. However, seeking medical care is essential as the failure to get immediate treatment may cause the insurance carrier to question the severity of injuries reported. This may also occur in injury cases where the claimant does not keep up with follow-up appointments with their treating physician or allows a gap in treatment. Any of these situations may cause the insurance adjuster handling the claim to downplay the value of the case or outright deny it. This is one of the many reasons why it is crucial to retain legal counsel right away after a crash resulting in trauma.

Aside from medical treatment, there may be concerns about whether there is enough bodily injury liability coverage available. This is especially true when it has been determined that one driver was entirely at fault for a multi-vehicle collision causing injury to several parties. An auto insurance policy with state minimum limits of $15,000 per injured party or $30,000 per crash is simply not enough to cover damages incurred. It may be even more stressful when it has been determined that the at-fault party was uninsured at the time of the crash. Fortunately, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage may come into play. This type of protection may pay for losses up to the limits of the insurance plan if the other side does not carry sufficient liability coverage or does not have an insurance policy at all. An experienced accident attorney can help guide you through the UM and UIM claims process to seek the financial compensation you need to move forward. Finding a top Modesto car accident lawyer may be challenging as there are many to choose from. The video below provides tips and suggestions on how to find the best attorney in your area.

How an Attorney Can Help You After a Car Accident

The unfortunate reality is that the insurance company is not on your side when it comes to providing you the fair financial recovery you need for your injuries and losses. The insurer may dispute liability for the incident, claim that medical care was excessive, or that treatment was due to a pre-existing condition that was unrelated to the crash. In all of these scenarios, the insurance carrier is attempting to get out of paying a bodily injury claim. Unlike the other party and their insurer, you can depend on your injury lawyer to recover the compensation you need to get your life back on track after a life-changing crash.
