Early Morning Antioch Car Accident

A driver escaped serious injuries following a one-car accident in Antioch earlier this month. Emergency personnel responded to the accident and transported the male driver to an East Bay hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, and he is expected to survive the crash. While the cause of the accident is still undergoing investigation, authorities suspect that the crash may have been due to distracted driving. Thankfully, no other cars or persons were involved in the wreck.

Details of the Accident

According to police officials, it was about 7:00 a.m. in the morning when the car accident took place. The man was driving down the eastbound direction of Laurel Road when, for unknown reasons, the car ran off the road near Empire Avenue on the border of Oakley and Antioch. The vehicle then preceded down an embankment and flipped over. The car came to a stop upside down. The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Officers from the Antioch Police Department were quickly dispatched to the scene.

After authorities arrived at the site of the wreck, the injured driver was airlifted via medical helicopter to a local hospital. Police said that his injuries, which were not specified, did not appear to be significant. No update on the male’s condition was immediately available. His identity has yet to be disclosed to the public.

Police officers declined to comment on the source that the driver was believed to be distracted and instead said that the ongoing investigation will reveal the nature of the distraction. However, they did mention that there was something discovered in the preliminary investigation that led them to suspect the car accident to have been caused by distracted driving.
