Dangerous Intersections for Motorcycle Accidents in Lincoln

I’m Ed Smith, a Lincoln Motorcycle Accident Attorney. Those who are familiar with the Lincoln area understand that the beautiful weather is conducive to motorcyclists. The warm climate and days filled with sunshine encourage everyone to get outside and enjoy the open air. There are several locations that motorcyclists should keep in mind.

The Outdoors of Lincoln

Because of the warm weather Lincoln enjoys, there are a number of outdoor destinations that motorcyclists may be interested in. The area has a handful of parks that motorcyclists may like to check out. Brown Park, located on McClain Drive, has a wide open space with a picnic area for an outdoor meal. It also has a playground for those with kids. The Coyote Pond Park has water activities in addition to a beautiful trail system. For those who enjoy sports, the Foskett Regional Park has a massive sports facility complete with soccer fields, baseball fields, and even a concession stand. Motorcyclists who enjoy the outdoors should be sure to check out these parks during their rides.

Dangers Exist in Lincoln

While parks make for a great destination for riders everywhere, some intersections deserve extra attention. Lincoln tracks the locations of accidents and some intersections are more dangerous than others. Examples of dangerous intersections in Lincoln include:

  • Lincoln Boulevard at Sterling Parkway
  • Lincoln Boulevard at Fifth Street
  • Lincoln Boulevard at Joiner Parkway and Ferrari Ranch Road
  • Lincoln Boulevard at Second and Third Street
  • Lincoln Boulevard at McBean Street
  • Lincoln Manor at Third Street

The dangers of these intersections are quantified by the number of motorcycle accidents or auto accidents that develop. While Lincoln Boulevard appears in all of these examples, it is also one of the largest roads in the city. This gives it a higher likelihood of witnessing accidents.

Reasons that Intersections are Dangerous

Some people may be asking why these intersections are more dangerous than others. Examples include:

Traffic: Some roads simply see more traffic than others. If a road has more vehicles on it, motorcycle accidents and truck accidents are more likely to develop.

Pedestrians: Busy city streets see a significant amount of pedestrian traffic. This means that pedestrian accidents are more likely to occur. Pedestrians can be challenging to spot and accidents may lead to traumatic injuries.

Blind Corners: Sometimes, cars make blind turns around corners and cannot fully see vehicles on the other side. Smaller vehicles, such as motorcycles, may be missed. This results in accidents.

Multiple Lanes: Roads with multiple lanes increase the shifting between lanes of traffic. This increases the chance that accidents occur.

Road Defects: If the road has fallen into a state of disrepair, the road could create unsafe driving conditions. Road defects could lead to more accidents.
