The collision involved three vehicles, including a semi-truck, and temporarily shut down the highway.

Chain-Reaction Collision Leads to Semi Striking Orchard

Based on CHP’s preliminary investigation, the crash was triggered when a southbound sedan failed to see a vehicle ahead slowing down to turn left into a private driveway. The sedan rear-ended the slowing vehicle, causing both cars to veer into the northbound lanes and into the path of an oncoming big rig.

Although the semi-truck driver attempted to avoid the collision, the truck was struck, forced off the road, and came to a stop in a nearby almond orchard. The impact scattered debris across the roadway and prompted a significant emergency response.

The collision prompted a response from multiple agencies, including fire crews, CHP, and emergency medical personnel. An air ambulance and two ground ambulances were initially requested.
