Crash Injures Ione Teen
An Ione teen was driving in wet weather conditions during the morning hours of Thursday, June 8, 2017. The teen allegedly lost control of the vehicle she was driving, resulting in a serious accident.
What Happened?
A 17-year-old female from Ione was driving along Camanche Road in the vicinity of Curran Road at about 10:30 am. The teen was driving a pickup truck and allegedly failed to slow her vehicle down for a curve in the roadway. The teen lost control and her truck rolled over.
The impact of the collision caused the teen to be trapped in her truck. Emergency crews responded to the scene and extricated her using the jaws of life. The teen was then transported via air ambulance to the Kaiser South Hospital with traumatic injuries.
What Caused the Crash?
A report as to cause of the crash has not been released yet. It usually takes the California Highway Patrol (CHP) from seven to ten days to issue a report with their findings as part of a Traffic Collison Report. A preliminary report stated inclement road conditions may have played a factor in the truck accident.
Safety Tips for Driving in the Rain
Wet weather can cause dangerous and slippery roadways. Water can build up on top of oil, debris, and dust that have not yet washed away, resulting in slick roads. When driving in the rain, adjust your speed and give yourself more time. Turn your headlights on and use your turn signal indicators to alert other drivers on the roadway.
