Crash Fatally Injures Two Near Ione

I’m Ed Smith, an Ione personal injury lawyer. Two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash along Highway 88 near Ione during the late evening hours of Friday, September 22, 2017. The crash, unfortunately, caused four parties to suffer traumatic injuries and two parties to suffer fatal injuries.

What Happened?

A 2014 Ford Focus, driven by 22-year-old Jordan Gold of Ione, was traveling westbound along Highway 88 in the vicinity of Highway 104 at approximately 11:30 pm. At the same time, 64-year-old Michael Jaques of Galt was driving his Toyota Camry eastbound along Highway 88. For unknown reasons, the Toyota veered over the double solid yellow lines and into the direct path of the Ford. Gold was unable to avoid the oncoming Toyota, resulting in a serious head-on collision.

Was Anybody Injured?

The Toyota Camry carried four passengers at the time of the head-on accident. Three of the four passengers in the Camry, 20-year-old Bryn Fox of Rio Vista, 44-year-old Daniel Matedne of Lodi, and 70-year-old Tom Irwin of Lodi, were all taken to hospitals in Sacramento with moderate to major injuries. Jordan Gold also suffered major injuries and was transported to Kaiser South Sacramento. The accident, unfortunately, caused Michael Jaques and his passenger, 47-year-old Danny Springer of Woodbridge, to suffer fatal injuries.

What Caused the Head-On Accident?
