Crash Fatally Injures Popular Bay Area Radio Astrologist
A truck accident occurred along a rural road in Fresno County during the morning hours of Tuesday, September 5, 2017. The collision resulted in the tragic loss of five victims, including a popular radio astrologist from the bay area.
What Happened?
A 2009 Mercedes-Benz SUV was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer truck transporting gravel along Manning Avenue. The accident took place near Highway 33 at about 9:00 am. Emergency personnel were immediately dispatched to assist the parties at the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered two damaged vehicles and spilled diesel from the big rig along the roadway. The spilled contents ignited a fire spreading to both involved vehicles.
Injury Reports
A 58-year-old Dinuba man was driving the big rig at the time of the accident. He suffered major injuries and was transported via air ambulance to a hospital in Fresno. Deputies from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department attempted to extricate the five trapped occupants inside the burning Mercedes-Benz SUV. Unfortunately, they were only able to rescue two of the five accident victims. Authorities declared all five occupants of the SUV deceased at the scene.

Loved One Forever Remembered
One of the victims that passed away in the Mercedes-Benz SUV was identified as Deepak Kumar, a radio astrologist for Desi 1170 AM. He was known as Master Deepak and hosted a popular radio show segment for astrology on Mondays and Thursdays.
Deepak Kumar was known by those around him as a soft-spoken and vibrant individual. Kumar made everyone laugh around him with his vivid personality. His radio show strongly influenced his listeners with his compelling words. Sadly, he was taken away too soon from his loved ones due to a tragic trucking accident.
Accident Investigation
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is handling the accident investigation. The cause of the crash has not yet been released. Traffic Collision Reports generally take one to two weeks to be processed. However, authorities reported that the Mercedes-Benz SUV allegedly ran a stop sign, resulting in the collision with the big rig.
