Collision Near Redding Seriously Injures Shasta Lake Man

Collision Near Redding Seriously Hurts Shasta Lake Man

On Saturday, June 6, 2020, a Shasta Lake man suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in the Redding area. The collision was reported by California Highway Patrol (CHP), who indicated that it took place at night on a frontage road off of Highway Interstate 5. The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.

Collision Information

The collision took place at around 10:00 p.m. on Riverland Drive between Redding and Anderson. A 31-year-old man from Shasta Lake was walking northbound on Riverland when he stopped and bent over in the roadway in order to tie his shoe. At the same time, a 29-year-old Redding woman was driving her vehicle on the same road, approaching the pedestrian from behind. Police said that the pedestrian was crouched and tying his shoe when he was struck by the oncoming vehicle.

CHP dispatched responders to the accident location following the accident. Upon reaching the site, medical officials found that the pedestrian was seriously hurt and determined that he had fractured both of his legs. The man was driven to a local hospital via ambulance for emergency care. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly uninjured during the incident, and no other individuals were involved.

Investigation

CHP has said that they are currently conducting an investigation into causal factors of this accident. Officers have stated that the driver was not under the influence at the time of the collision.

Pedestrian-involved accidents can be caused by a number of different factors, some of which are things that neither the driver nor the pedestrian can control. Such factors often include things like issues with vehicle parts like defective brakes or headlights, as well as hazardous roads with major potholes or inadequate lighting.

Pedestrian Injuries

Pedestrian injured during car accidents are much more likely to suffer serious injuries than those in passenger vehicles, even in low-speed accidents. Because pedestrians are so vulnerable, they often suffer injuries that have a major impact on their lives. Recovering from a major injury can be difficult, especially if your injury has left you with limited mobility.

Not only is injury recovery painful and mentally stressful, but it’s also often expensive. Many injuries require extensive medical care, including surgeries, medications, physical therapy sessions, and more. All of this can add up to a significant amount of medical debt, which can be even harder to pay off if limited mobility has left you unable to work.

Contacting an Attorney

Because the issues that accident survivors face are serious, it’s important for them to contact a personal injury lawyer for advice. Often, accident survivors can obtain full compensation for their economic and personal damages by working with an experienced injury attorney and filing a claim against negligent parties and/or insurance companies.
