Carmichael Crash

Carmichael Crash

At least six people suffered injuries in a two-car, head-on collision Saturday night in Carmichael, Metro Fire said.

What Happened?

A report of a motor vehicle accident involving two cars was called in around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016. The location of the head-on crash was at Jameson Court and Manzanita Avenue, according to Metro Fire Department.

What Went Wrong?

Authorities indicated a Honda Pilot was headed northbound on Manzanita Avenue.  Somehow the driver managed to cross into the southbound fast lane of travel, colliding head-on with a Subaru Legacy. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said it remains unclear why the driver of the Honda Pilot veered over into the southbound direction of travel.

Multiple Injuries In Both Vehicles

  • Officers said there was a woman and three occupants in the Honda Pilot.
  • The Subaru Legacy had one woman and one occupant inside.

Some of the Injured Were Described as Pediatric Patients

Two of the people who sustained injuries were described as “pediatric patients”. Four other adults were injured also, officers said. Five injured patients were transported to local hospitals via ambulance. One patient was airlifted to a hospital by a medical helicopter.

What Caused Carmichael Crash?

It is too early in the investigation to know for certain. Sometimes when a car crosses over the line it is because they were driving while distracted. Or, sometimes it is because the individual was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Occasionally, it may be attributed to a medical emergency while behind the wheel.

It generally takes around one or two weeks for the CHP to prepare a traffic collision report. Sometimes the report is inconclusive or may contain errors.

It is important to have an experienced auto accident attorney conducting an independent investigation to properly determine liability (fault) for the collision. For more information, contact an attorney.
