Two-Car Collision in Merced

Two motorists were traveling in Merced during the evening hours of Sunday, June 11, 2017. Unfortunately, the two drivers were involved in a two-car collision which caused their passengers to suffer traumatic injuries.

What Happened?

A 19-year-old motorist was driving in a white Honda southbound along R Street at approximately 6:16 pm. At the same time, a Mazda was traveling northbound along R Street. The driver of the Honda allegedly turned in front of the Mazda, resulting in an automobile accident. The force of the car accident propelled the Mazda off the street and into a house along the 1000 Block of West 22nd Street.

Was Anybody Injured?

The residents of the home escaped without injury. There were three passengers in the Honda and one passenger in the Mazda. The passengers involved in the car accident suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were all transported to a hospital for treatment.

A Resident Inside the Home Recalls Crash

A 21-year-old man was with his family in the house at the time of the car accident. The man recalls hearing the sound of tires screeching followed by an abrupt crash. He went outside to take a look and found a vehicle had collided with his home. Damages were located on the exterior of his house but he stated it was “nothing that can’t be fixed.”

What Caused the Accident?

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Officials from the Merced Police Department revealed that neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in the crash. It typically takes authorities from 7 to 10 days to process a Traffic Collision Report. The report generally lists who was found at fault. Sometimes, a police report may be inconclusive or contain errors. It is critical to contact an experienced personal injury lawyer who will conduct a prompt investigation of the scene and look into the sequence of events leading up to the collision. A good lawyer will pinpoint the cause and hold accountable those who are found liable for causing injury. For more information, contact an experienced attorney.
